About me

I believe there is intrinsic value in anything made slowly, with time and care. Things crafted by hand communicate value to those we share them with, and pottery is such a tactile medium with which to convey that love to those around us. I create tableware with this in mind, in the hope that something of the process leads those who use my pieces to feel the warmth and care that goes into them.

My grandfather was a potter, and it's a privilege to create my ceramics using his 1960s potters' wheel today. He had these words by DH Lawrence displayed in his house, which now inspire me in my work.

“Things men have made with wakened hands, and put soft life into
are awake through years with transferred touch, and go on glowing
for long years.
And for this reason, some old things are lovely
warm still with the life of forgotten men who made them.”
